Group Project for World War One
Your group will be responsible for creating a page on our class wikispace for all of us to use for learning and ultimately, studying for our unit test and provincial exam.
Working in groups you will research images, videos, facts; interesting clips and opinions on the topic you have been given.

Topics include but are not limited to:
  • Battle of Ypres 5w’s significance, involvement, etc....
  • Battle of Vimy ridge
  • Battle of the Somme
  • Battle of Passchendaele
  • Technology in the war: What was new? How was it significant? Effective? What impact did it have on the war?
  • Causes of the war: Ideologies, countries, world events
  • Propaganda in the war: Examples, Was it effective?, Why was it effective or not effective, Where/how was it used?
  • Leaders of the war: Identify them, significant decisions or influence, significant mistakes or victories
  • French/English tension in the war: Did the war divide or unite Canada? Provide examples of any answer
  • Canada’s Autonomy developing in the war: Was Canada acting independently? Did Canada become more/less independent? Why/how did the nature of our country change
  • Social developments during the war: The war at home: Role of women
  • Enemy Aliens: Who were they? How were they treated? Where were they kept? Why?
  • War Strategy: War of Attrition; explain the nature of trench warfare, why did it develop? Was this the way battles have always been fought?

The Assignment:

Your group must select a topic and create a page on the course wikispace with all of your information.

You must include:
-Effective, relevant visuals (pictures, video, graphics)

-A full write up on the significance of your topic (minimum 500 words) identifying the significance of the subject, the major events and players. Terminology and other interesting facts you can find.
-Links to sites with additional information (at least 5)
-At least 2 Primary source documents
